Enefit Green acquires the 1 GW Liivi offshore wind project in Estonia

The Estonian renewable energy company Enefit Green has entered into an agreement with Eesti Energia to acquire the 1 GW Liivi offshore wind project, located on the Estonian part of the Gulf of Riga, for €6.2m. The company will continue development work in order to start large-scale renewable electricity production at the site before 2030. The Livii wind project, which will comprise between 50 and 70 turbines, is expected to produce around 4 TWh/year.

The Liivi offshore wind farm is the second offshore wind project in Enefit Green’s portfolio. The company is also developing a 1.1 GW offshore wind project in the north of Hiiumaa, which is scheduled to start production after 2030. Enefit Green has six wind projects and four solar parks currently under construction in Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Finland with a total capacity of 596 MW.

As of end-2021, Estonia did not have any installed offshore wind capacity (only 316 MW of onshore wind), but currently has more than 3.6 GW of wind projects under development (of which 3 GW is offshore).
