Endesa's power generation rose by 12% in 2022 (Spain)

The Spanish energy utility Endesa (part of the Enel group) has released its 2022 results, posting an ordinary net profit of €2.4bn, a 26% increase compared to 2021, and a total revenue of €32.9bn, a 57.4% increase compared to the previous year.

Endesa’s installed capacity in Spain stood at 22 GW in 2022 (+4.3%), including 9.3 GW of renewables (+10.8%). The group’s total electricity production rose by more than 12% to 64.7 TWh in 2022, including 12 TWh from renewables (a nearly 6% decrease compared to 2021 due to a 27% fall in hydroelectric output). 41% of generation came from nuclear (nuclear generation rise by nearly 4%). The company produced 52.4 TWh in Spain and Portugal (+13%) with 17.7 GW installed on the Iberian Peninsula. Endesa sold 79 TWh of electricity (-0.6%), including 70.8 TWh on the free market (+3%), and distributed 131.8 TWh (+0.6%) of electricity in 2022. It reached 10.5 million of electricity customers in Spain and Portugal in 2022 (+2.9%).

The company sold 63.8 TWh of gas in 2022, a 17% decrease compared to 2021. Its number of gas customers reached 1.8 million (+6.8%), including 1.5 million on the free market (+2.3%). Endesa used 36 TWh of gas for its thermal power plants.
