Endeavor's 200 MW Bridge Power CCGT power plant commissioned in Ghana

The 200 MW Bridge Power gas-fired project in Kpone (Ghana) has been inaugurated. The US$1.2bn project, owned and developed by Endeavor Energy and Andaris Energy, is powered by five GE Vernova TM2500 aeroderivative gas turbines, a steam turbine and a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). It is the world's first use of trailer-mounted aeroderivative gas turbines in a CCGT configuration, is expected to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions compared to traditional single-cycle power plants, and is designed to be one of the most operationally flexible CCGT plants in Ghana. The project aims to meet part of Ghana's electricity needs by contributing by more than 7% to the country's thermal generation capacity. Power will be sold to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Ghana’s power capacity reached 5.4 GW at the end of 2023 (stable since 2020). It is split between gas (49%), oil (20%), and hydro (29%). This capacity multiplied by 2.5 between 2010 and 2019, with the commissioning of 1.5 GW of gas-fired power capacity.
