EnBW starts building the 960 MW He Dreiht offshore wind park in Germany

The German energy group EnBW has started building its 960 MW He Dreiht offshore wind project located in the German North Sea. The €2.4bn project, developed by EnBW with a 50.1% stake, in partnership with a consortium of Allianz insurance companies, AIP and Norges Bank Investment Management (49.9%), is being built 85 kilometers northwest of Borkum and about 110 kilometers west of Helgoland and will include 64 Vestas turbines rated 15 MW each. The entire project is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2025 and should produce enough electricity for 1.1 million households. EnBW has already signed several long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 505 MW with Fraport (85 MW), Evonik (150 MW), Salzgitter (50 MW), Bosch (50 MW), Deutsche Bahn (20 MW), Telekom subsidiary PASM (100 MW) and SHS-Stahl-Holding Saar (50 MW).

By 2025, EnBW aims to reach 4 GW of offshore wind capacity - three offshore wind projects are planned with BP in the Irish Sea and the North Sea off the east coast of Scotland (United Kingdom) - and 1.2 GW of solar capacity.
