Enbridge awarded permit to expand cross-border oil pipeline (US/Canada)

The Canadian company Enbridge has received a Presidential Permit for its project to transport an annual average capacity of 800,000 bbl/d) on its existing three-mile segment (4.8 km) of Line 67 (Alberta Clipper line) that crosses the US/Canada border (near Neche, North Dakota, US). Enbridge filed the application for this Presidential Permit under the US Department of State (DoS) back in November 2012.

The Line 67 cross-border oil pipeline operates under an existing Presidential Permit issued by the US Department of State (DoS) back in 2009. Once completed, the expansion will enable Enbridge to increase the current capacity by 450,000 bbl/d up to 800,000 bbl/d.

Enbridge currently transports approximately 28% of the crude oil produced in North America and 64% of US-bound Canadian crude oil exports. The company also accounts for 28% of the total US crude oil imports and operates a crude oil and liquids transportation network of 30,040 km across North America.
