EMP plans a new US$550m gas transmission pipeline in Lousiana (US)

US-based midstream company Enable Midstream Partners has announced plans to develop the Gulf Run Pipeline gas transportation project in Louisiana (United States). The pipeline is expected to cost US$550m and will be laid between Westdale to Starks with an extension to Gillis (Louisiana). The project is supported by a previous agreement with an undisclosed shipper, under which it will ship 1.1 bcf/d (31.1 mcm/d or 11 bcm/year) to export facilities for a 20-years period. The open season to determine the pipeline capacity will end in late October 2018. The permitting process for the pipeline construction is expected to begin shortly and the project is scheduled to come onstream in 2023.

Once built, it will ship gas from Louisiana producers to emerging LNG export projects on the US Gulf Coast. With the increasing demand for gas, it is set to become a critical link between growing natural gas production in Louisiana and the global markets.
