Elements Green unveils plans for an 800 MW solar project in the UK

Elements Green has confirmed developing plans for Great North Road Solar Park, a solar and energy storage project in Nottinghamshire, in the United Kingdom. The project aims to have a capacity of approximately 800 MW, which could power around 400,000 homes and reduce emissions by about 250 ktCO2/year. The project's initial work is focused on identifying suitable locations for solar panels, energy storage, and infrastructure to connect to the national grid, with plans to conduct community consultations in 2024.

The Great North Road Solar Park is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), requiring a Development Consent Order (DCO) application to the Planning Inspectorate. If approved, construction is expected to commence around 2027.

Solar accounts for 14% of the country’s installed capacity, with 14.4 GW. Almost 1 GW are currently under construction and more than 17.2 GW under development.
