The European Investment Bank will lend €60m to support Slovakia's main gas distribution company SPP-distribúcia. The funds will help the company upgrade its existing gas distribution network, which entails in particular the replacement and refurbishment of old metal pipelines and surface infrastructure to increase network safety and improve service reliability.
This is the third loan of this kind awarded under the framework of the cooperation between the EU bank and SPP‑distribúcia. The two previous loans amounted €135m and were also slated to finance upgrading measures on the company’s gas network.
Besides, the EIB also provided a €17m to GreenWay Group, Slovakia's leading electric vehicle charging stations and services provider. The sum will be dedicated to expand the firm's network of charging stations for electric vehicles on a large scale across Central and Eastern Europe.
