The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has increased the price of petroleum products. The pricing committee raised the prices of 80-octane by 7% to EGP8/l (US$42c/l), 92-octane by 6% to EGP9.25/l (US$49c/l), 95-octane by 9% to EGP10.75/l (US$57c/l) and diesel by 7% to EGP7.25/l (US$38c/l). The decision, taken in a context of a depreciating Egyptian Pound and rising world oil prices, took effect on 13 July 2022 and applies until September 2022. The committee was created in 2019 to review and adjust local fuel prices quarterly in line with changes to prices in the global market.
In 2021, Egypt consumed 796 kb/d of petroleum products (+9% compared to 2020), including 289 mb/d of diesel and 192 kb/d of motor gasoline.
