EDPR and QIC will build a 400 MW/1.6 GWh solar+storage project in Australia

Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) and EDP Renewables Australia have signed an exclusivity agreement to develop a 400 MW/1.6 GWh solar-plus-storage project in Queensland’s Toowoomba region (Australia) according to EDP’s press release (10/11/2025).

  • The Punchs Creek Renewable Energy Project comprises 480 MWp (400 MWac) of solar co-located with a 400 MW/1.6 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
  • The project is expected to reach financial close in 2026.

EDPR Australia is in advanced discussions for a long-tenured offtake contract for the project. In October 2025, the project was also awarded a generation revenue scheme under the Australian Government's Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) Tender 4.
