Engie has signed an agreement with EDP Renewables, the renewable branch of the Portuguese energy group EDP, to create a 50-50 joint venture (JV) to develop offshore wind projects worldwide. The JV will be an exclusive vehicle of investment for fixed and floating offshore wind. Engie and EDPR will thus combine their offshore wind assets and projects in the JV. The JV will include 1.5 GW of projects under construction (100% of the following projects: 950 MW Moray East in the UK, 487 MW SeaMade in Belgium and 25 MW Wind Float Atlantic off Portugal) and 3.7 GW under development, corresponding to the Moray West project (800-950 MW) in the UK, 992 MW Tréport and Noirmoutier in France, 30 MW Leucate in France, 1,336 MW Mayflower in the United States and 400 MW B&C Wind. Pending regulatory approvals, the joint venture is expected to be operational in the first quarter 2020.
