EDP Renewables and SRP complete 200 MW / 800 MWh BESS project in the US

EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) and Salt River Project (SRP), a not-for-profit public power utility, have announced the completion of Flatland Energy Storage, a 200 MW / 800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Arizona, US (EDP Renewables press release, 09/06/2026).

Located in Pinal County, Flatland Energy Storage has the capacity to supply the equivalent of approximately 44,500 Arizona homes, according to the company’s press release. The facility is also the largest BESS within the EDP Group.

EDPR NA already operates energy infrastructure in Arizona, with around 600 MW of gross operating capacity across solar and storage assets. Its portfolio in the state includes Sun Streams Solar (158 MW), Brittlebush Solar (200 MW), and Table Top Solar & Energy Storage (96 MW solar and 96 MW BESS).
