EDF submits a 420 MW wind+200 MW BESS project for approval in Australia

EDF power solutions Australia (EDFA) has submitted its proposed Balala Wind project in New South Wales (NSW) (Australia) for approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.

Located in the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) within the Uralla Shire Local Government Area (LGA), the project would include up to 60 wind turbines for a combined capacity of 420 MW and a 200 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and would be connected to an existing 330 kV line.

Pending approval, construction could start in 2030 and last 30 months, with commissioning expected in 2033.
