EDF Energy has sent a draft Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC) to Suffolk local authorities to invite feedback on the proposed consultation programme for the Sizewell C nuclear power project, just as the examination of its application for Hinkley Point C in Somerset concludes.
The formal consultation on initial proposals and options is planned to start by the end of November this year. The Planning Inspectorate now has up to three months to make a recommendation to the Secretary of State.
EDF Energy submitted its application for Hinkley Point C on 31 October 2011, following more than three years of community consultation and stakeholder engagement which directly shaped the proposals. The application was formally accepted for examination on 24 November 2011 and the six-month examination started on 21 March 2012. Hinkley Point C is subject to planning consent and a final investment decision by the end of the year.
