EDF, Enbridge, CPP Investments, and Skyborn Renewables have inaugurated the 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind park, located off the coast of Normandy, in north-western France, as the project became fully operational. Construction of the wind project, which features 71 Siemens Gamesa turbines, was completed in late March 2024. The Fécamp wind park has the ability to produce enough power to meet the annual consumption of 770,000 French households. The first wind turbine for the project was installed in July 2023.
Fécamp is the third commercial-scale offshore wind project in France to be completed, after the Saint-Nazaire (480 MW) and Saint-Brieuc (496 MW) offshore wind parks. France plans to reach 40% of electricity produced from renewable sources by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. France also aims to develop 40 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050.
