EDF completes construction of the 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind park (France)

EDF Renewables, a subsidiary of the French group EDF, has announced that all 71 wind turbines have been installed at the 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind park, located in Normandy, northern France. The Fécamp wind project, which features 7 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines, is now expected to start producing electricity in the coming weeks, once testing is completed. Once fully commissioned, the 500 MW offshore wind park will produce enough electricity to meet the annual electricity consumption of 770,000 French households. The first wind turbine for the project was installed in July 2023.

Fécamp is the third commercial-scale offshore wind project in France to be completed, after the Saint-Nazaire (480 MW) and Saint-Brieuc (496 MW) offshore wind parks. France plans to reach 40% of electricity produced from renewable sources by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. France also aims to develop 40 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050 (482 MW at the end of 2022 thanks to the commissioning of the Saint-Nazaire project).
