EDF announces EUR240m support fund to accelerate France's electrification

EDF has announced a EUR240m investment to help the transition towards electric solutions in France (EDF press release, 08/04/2026). The investment will be distributed directly and indirectly via a support fund to "help consumers and industrial players to acquire heat pumps and electric heavy goods vehicles, and to support the installation of electricity-consuming industries".

Concretely, the fund plans to provide a flat-rate grant of EUR1k to low-income households for the installation of heat pumps to replace a gas or oil boilers. A EUR30m will be destined to transport operators for the conversion of their diesel trucks for electric heavy goods vehicles (limited for 2 trucks, with an average purchase subsidy of EUR15k per truck) and an additional EUR50m will be used for the installation of 180 charging stations for long-distance electric trucks across mainland France within three years.
