Eco Stor reaches financial close on 300 MW / 718 MWh BESS project (Germany)

The German-Norwegian power storage systems provider Eco Stor has announced the financial close for a 300-MW / 718-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Förderstedt, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany (Eco Stor press release, 15/06/2026).

According to the company, the facility is the largest battery storage project both developed and financed in Germany. “The large-scale battery storage facility Förderstedt will have a capacity of 300 MW and a storage capacity of 718 MWh. This means that it is about three times the current largest battery storage system in Germany in Bollingstedt, which was also built by Eco Stor and has been in operation for a year”, stated the company in its press release.

The project is supported by a long-term flexibility tolling agreement with the virtual power plant operator Next Kraftwerke.

The site is expected to become fully operational in 2027, where it will support the integration of renewable energy sources, contribute to grid stabilisation, and strengthen security of supply on a long-term basis.
