The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the acquisition of Engie's power generation portfolio in the United States by US power utility Dynegy. The acquisition was announced in February 2016 and covers 9,017 MW of power generation assets in the ERCOT, PJM, and ISO-New England electricity markets.
The portfolio of power plants include two coal-fired power plants Coleto Creek (635 MW, Texas) and Northeaster (52 MW, Pennsylvania), as well as 15 gas-fired power plants, namely Ennis (370 MW, Texas), Hays (1,107 MW, Texas), Midlothian, (1,712 MW, Texas), Wharton (85 MW, Texas), Wise (787 MW, Texas), Bellingham (566 MW, Massachusetts), Bellingham NEA (157 MW, Massachusetts), Blackstone (544 MW, Massachusetts), Milford (171 MW, Massachusetts), Armstrong (753 MW, Pennsylvania), Calumet (380 MW, Illinois), Hopewell (370 MW, Virginia), Pleasants (388 MW, West Virginia), Sayreville (170 MW, New Jersey), Troy (770 MW, Ohio).
After closing the Engie acquisition, Dynegy will own 31,410 MW of power generating facilities, primarily in the Northeast, Midwest and Texas. Dynegy also provides retail electricity to individuals, municipalities and businesses in Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
