Dutch-Danish interconnector COBRA is set to begin operating

The 325 km subsea high-voltage interconnection line known as the "COBRA cable" will be available at the power market this week (September 7th). The 700 MW project was developed by Tennet (Netherlands) and Energinet (Denmark) and runs between Eemshaven (the Netherlands) via Germany's territorial waters to Endrup (Denmark). Construction of the project started in 2016 and was completed in early-2019. Furthermore, the cable connection has been designed in such a way that it will be possible to connect an offshore wind farm at a later stage.

The main contractor for the project was German developer Siemens while cables were manufactured and installed by Prysmian.
