Ukrainian private energy company DTEK has revealed plans to develop the 650 MW Poltavska wind park, with total investment projected at EUR1.2bn (DTEK press release, 21/04/2026). Through its subsidiary DTEK Renewables, the company intends to deploy up to 100 wind turbines at the Poltavska site, situated in Poltava, in central Ukraine.
“Once completed, the flagship project will make a major contribution to strengthening energy security by replacing generation capacity damaged or destroyed during Russian attacks, while accelerating Ukraine’s transition to a cleaner, more decentralised power system”, according to the company’s press release.
Amid the war, DTEK brought online 114 MW of new wind capacity at the Tyligulska wind park in southern Ukraine and is currently constructing an additional 384 MW. The company has also deployed a 200 MW energy storage system and continues to advance other renewable energy projects.
According to our data, as of April 2026, approximately 4 GW of wind capacity was under construction or under development. In 2024, nuclear energy represented the country’s primary source of electricity generation, accounting for 51% of total output. It was followed by coal (20%), hydropower (12%), gas (11%), solar (5%), and wind (0.3%) (Enerdata Global Energy Research).
