DTEK (Donbasskaya Toplivno Energeticheskaya Kompaniya), a subsidiary of SCM Holdings, has announced it intends to invest in the construction of solar and wind park projects. The projects which are currently being discussed are notably the construction of the 200 MW Prymorska wind park and that of a 10 MW solar power plant in the Kherson region. The company announced it plans to build 1 GW of renewable generation facilities in the next 5 years.
DTEK is the largest Ukrainian private company in thermal generation. It holds 10 thermal power plants and 2 CHP plants, through several companies with 18.6 GW of total installed capacity and one wind park of 200 MW (end-2015) which produced 38 TWh in 2015. DTEK’s main subsidiaries are: Shidenergo (capacity of 4.2 GW), Dniproenergo (72.9% stake, 8.2 GW), Zahidenergo (70.9% stake, 4.7 GW) and Kyivenergo (72.4% stake, 1.2 GW). The share of coal in DTEK’s power mix is 98%.
DTEK owns Ukraine's largest operational wind farm (Botievo wind farm in the Zaporizhia region) with a current installed capacity of 200 MW. The first wind turbines were commissioned in 2012. The company's share in the Ukrainian renewable energy market reached 13% in 2015.
