Driftwood LNG plans 26 Mt/year LNG export terminal in Louisiana (US)

Driftwood LNG, a subsidiary of LNG project developer Tellurian LNG, plans to develop a new gas liquefaction and export facility south of Lake Charles, Louisiana (United States) and has filed a request with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to initiate the pre-filing environmental review process.

The proposed LNG terminal would consist of up to five liquefaction plants of four LNG producing trains, with a combined capacity of up to 26 Mt/year, and of four 175,000 m3 LNG storage tanks. Three berths could receive LNG carriers from 125,000 to 216,000 m3.

Driftwood LNG is currently assessing the routing options for the gas supply pipeline and will conduct an open season for the gas pipeline, prior to the submission of the Section 7 application in the first quarter of 2017. Construction could start as early as 2018 and the first LNG plant could be commissioned in 2022, with all trains operational in 2025.
