Driftwood LNG files FERC application for LNG export facility (US)

Driftwood LNG, a wholly owned Tellurian Inc. subsidiary, has announced it has submitted a formal application to the Federal Energy Regulator Commission (FERC) regarding the construction and the operation of a 26 Mt LNG export facility project near Lake Charles (Lousiana) and a pipeline.

The Final Investment Decision is expected to take place in mid-2018. Tellurian expects the start of the Driftwood LNG project in 2018 and the first LNG production in 2022 while full operations could begin in 2025. The 96-mile (around 154 km) feed gas pipeline will deliver 4 bcf/d (around 113 mcm/d) of natural gas to the facility and will be connected to the interstate pipelines.

The LNG facility will include 5 LNG plants, 3 235,000 cubic meters LNG storage tanks and three berths for the accommodation of the LNG ships. The construction, engineering and procurement total cost of the project is expected to reach between US$13bn - US$16bn.
