Dominion's Cove Point LNG project is 84% complete (US)

Dominion has reported the construction works for its Cove Point LNG Export project off the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland (United States) is 84% complete. In April, it has asked the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) permission to introduce fuel gas at the plant.

The company had received approval for the project from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in September 2014. The LNG export project will be built on the site of the existing regasification terminal and will use its storage facilities. It will have a capacity of 5.25 Mt/year and is expected to be commissioned in late 2017-early 2018. The project cost amounts US$3.8bn.

Cove Point LNG will be the first gas liquefaction project and export facility on the US East Coast and the second in the Lower 48 states behind the Sabine Pass LNG terminal (Cheniere Energy).

As of today, the liquefaction project's marketed capacity is completely subscribed under a 20-year service agreement.
