Dominion files ACP gas pipe project's Environmental Review (US)

Dominion has submitted a request with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to begin its environmental review of the proposed US$4.5-5bn Atlantic Coast Pipeline project. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is developed by Dominion (45%), Duke Energy (40%), Piedmont Natural Gas (10%) and AGL Resources (5%). The 550 miles (885 km) gas pipeline project will start in Harrison County (West Virginia) and extend toward Greensville County (Virginia) then heading south to North Carolina. A lateral extension is being planned from the Virginia-North Carolina border to Hampton Roads. It will be able to transport 1.5 bcf/d (42 mcm/d, i.e. 15.5 bcm/year). Dominion expects to receive approval in summer 2016 and to start construction in 2016. The gas pipeline project could be commissioned by late 2018.
