Dominion Energy sells Ohio subsidiary to Enbridge for US$6.6bn (US)

The US power utility, Dominion Energy, has announced the closure of the sale of its Ohio natural gas utility (The East Ohio Gas Company) to Canada-based pipeline operator Enbridge for approximately US$6.6bn. The transaction received all customary regulatory approvals. The East Ohio Gas Company is a Cleveland-based gas utility, and it will be doing business as Enbridge Gas Ohio, joining Enbridge's Gas Distribution and Storage Business Unit.

In September 2023, Dominion Energy announced the sale of three of its gas distribution companies to Enbridge for US$14bn. Besides The East Ohio Gas Company (EOG), the deal also includes Questar Gas Company (including its related Wexpro companies) and Public Service Company of North Carolina (PSNC), both of which are expected to close its sales later in 2024. The deal makes of Embridge the largest natural gas provider in North America and doubling its gas distribution business to 9.3 bcf/d (96 bcm/year).
