DNV assesses eight offshore wind projects in the US (13 GW)

The global risk management firm DNV has announced that it will be conducting a financial assessment of eight offshore wind projects in the United States. Representing a combined total of 13 GW, the eight projects are currently under development on the Atlantic Coast, with three of them having already a final investment decision (FID), although no project was identified by the company. The DNV plans to provide pre-commitment and construction monitoring due diligence to inform all stakeholders of the associated risks of the projects, aiming to deliver its services within established financing mechanisms and processes to ensure on-time closing.

At the federal level, the United States targets 30 GW of offshore wind by 2030 (up from 42 MW installed in 2023) and 15 GW of floating wind capacity by 2035. At the end of 2023, the US had a pipeline of 33 GW of offshore wind projects under development.
