The French company Direct Energie announced it has entered exclusive negotiations in order to acquire Quadran (but excluding Energies Libres, the marketing subsidiary of Quadran). The transaction could amount around €303m and would encompass about 363 MW (243 MW of net capacity), mostly coming from wind, solar, hydropower and biogas power generation assets, according to Direct Energie.
Direct Energie recently acquired two gas-fired turbines with a combined capacity of 800 MW from Marcinelle Energie in Charleroi, Belgium (400 MW each). The company is pursuing its growth strategy and is looking forward to become a middle-sized integrated player with a diversified energy mix.
As of 2016, Quadran reported production figures of 1019 GWh. The company plans to invest €530m in new projects scheduled for commissioning in 2017-2018. They plan to install 450 MW of additional capacity, coming mostly from wind (66%) and solar PV (33%)
