The Danish renewable energy company Ørsted has announced that it will invest DKK475bn (€64bn) to achieve its goal of 50 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2030.
The company has confirmed that its plans were fully self-funded and that it expected to exceed goals set in 2021 for its EBITDA as well as for return on capital employed. Ørsted expects to take a final investment decision (FID) on its planned 2.8 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm the UK during the course of 2023, for an estimated commissioning in 2027.
Currently, Ørsted operates 15.5 GW of renewable energy assets, while 4.9 GW are under construction across technologies. Ørsted has also been awarded an additional 10.6 GW of capacity and has a total renewable project pipeline of about 114 GW.
