The Danish energy group Ørsted has launched 4 partnerships with Glide Energy, Rolwind, ARBA Energías Renovables, and Ereda, to pursue the early-stage solar and onshore wind projects in Spain’s upcoming grid auctions and has announced multi-GW ambitions in the Spanish market for the long-term. The longer-term goal is to develop large-scale onshore wind, solar PV, and storage projects that can be commercialised through either government auctions or the growing market for corporate power purchase agreements.
These Spanish projects will contribute to Ørsted’s ambition of reaching approximatively 17.5 GW of onshore renewable capacity by 2030, as well as Spain’s ambitions, as the country aims to reach 70% of renewable generation by 2030 (and 100 % renewable generation by 2050). Spains notably plans to develop 39 GW of solar PV, 50 GW of onshore wind and 3 GW of floating offshore wind by 2030.
