The Czech group EPH sees revenues and power generation decrease in FY 2023

The Czech energy company EPH has unveiled its 2023 results, posting €7bn in gross profit (-6% compared to 2022) and €24.2bn in revenues (-35%). The company’s net power generation reach 36.1 TWh in 2023 (-2%), including 12 TWh in Italy (-18%), 9 TWh in the United Kingdom (-21%), 7.4 TWh in the Netherlands (acquisition of assets in 2023), 4.3 TWh in Germany (-17%) and 1.5 TWh in Czechia (-39%).

EPH’s net installed capacity reached 13.9 GW in 2023 (+2.1 GW or +18%), including 9.4 GW of gas-fired capacity, 3.7 GW of coal-fired and lignite-fired capacity and 700 MW of biomass capacity. The company had 4 GW in Italy, 3.5 GW in the United Kingdom, 2.6 GW in the Netherlands, 1.7 GW in Germany and 900 MW in Czechia. EPH decommissioned 1.7 GW of coal power plants in FY 2023, plans to reach 18.4 GW by the end of 2025 (mostly through the addition of 2.4 GW of gas-fired capacity, 2.7 GW of nuclear through its 66% stake in Slovenske Elektrarne and 1.6 GW of hydropower capacity) and plans to phase out coal by 2028/2029.

In addition, EPH distributed 6 TWh of electricity in 2023 (-5%), transported 16.1 bcm of natural gas (-39%) and distributed 45.5 TWh of gas (-6%).
