The capacity of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline should be raised from 33 Mt/year to 67 Mt/year. A letter of intent was signed by the various partners except BP. A final decision of investment should be made in 2009 and the doubling of the capacity could be operational in 2013. The project envisages the construction of ten additional pumping stations in Russia and in Kazakhstan, of six storage tanks close to Novorossiysk, arrival point on the Black Sea, and of a third mooring buoy to the terminal. It would be financed partly by the funds generated by CPC via a tariff of transport of 38 $ per million tons. The partners of CPC are: the Federation of Russia, represented by Transneft (24%) and CPC Company (7%) with 31%; the Republic of Kazakhstan (via KazMunayGaz) with 19%; Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium with 15%; LukArco with 12,5%; Mobil with 7,5%; Rosneft-Shell with 7,5%; BG with 2%; Eni with 2%; and Kazakhstan Ventures Pipeline and Oryx with 1,75% each one.
