Polskie LNG plans to start construction of the LNG terminal at the Baltic port of Swinoujscie in March 2011. The General Contractor of the project is in the process of carrying out the final ground investigation prior to an intensive earthwork. In 2010, the European Commission granted Polskie LNG S.A. the amount of €55m from the European Energy Programme for Recovery. The company also applied for a funding as a part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (POIiŚ) to the Oil and Gas Institution holding the position of an Implementing Institution. The final decision on the matter as well as the signing of the contract is planned for January 2011. The terminal will be ready to operate for June 2014. Nevertheless, it will be available for the commissioning and the start-up a few months beforehand. The initial capacity will be 2.5 bcm/year, to be increased to 5 bcm/year and eventually to 7.5 bcm.
