Connecticut (US) receives 3 bids in 2 GW offshore wind tender

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) of Connecticut (United States) has received three bids in the request for proposals (RFP) for the development of up to 2,000 MW of offshore wind power that was launched in late August 2019. Bids were due by 30 September 2019 and had to include an environmental and fisheries mitigation plan.

Mayflower Wind, a joint venture of Shell and EDPR Offshore North America has submitted two bids for 804 MW and for 408 MW. The DEEP has also received bids from a joint venture of Orsted and Eversource (Constitution wind power project) and from Vineyard Wind (a 50:50 joint venture of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Avangrid Renewables (Iberdrola)), which proposed to deliver up to 1,200 MW of offshore wind power to Connecticut. Vineyard Wind plans to develop a set of offshore wind project proposals, named Park City Wind, including a required 400 MW plan and options to develop projects that will generate 800 MW, 1000 MW and 1200 MW.
