Colombia approves merger of Emgesa, EGP Colombia and ESSA2

The Colombian Superintendency of Companies has approved the merger between Enel Green Power Colombia, Emgesa, Codensa, and ESSA2 SpA into a single company named Enel Colombia that would group together all Enel's assets in Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala. The new company would be owned by Enel Américas (57.345%), Grupo Energía de Bogotá (42.515%), and minority shareholders (0.140%).

Emgesa (Enel America 56.4%, GEB-Grupo Energía Bogotá 43.6%) is the third largest power generation company in Colombia with 3.5 GW (around 19% of the capacity). It also has 5 renewable energy projects under construction with a combined capacity of 1.1 GW.  Codensa is the second largest power distribution company in Colombia, with 3.7 million residential, commercial, industrial and official customers in the Bogota area. Enel also owns 606 MW of installed capacity in Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala and another 70 MW under construction.
