CNNC completes fuel loading at Fuqing-3 nuclear project (China)

China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has completed the loading of all 157 fuel assemblies into the reactor core of the third reactor of the Fuqing nuclear project in the Fujian province of China.

The Fuqing site will accommodate six 1,000 MW reactors. The first unit was commissioned in November 2014 and three reactors entered the construction phase in 2009. Fuqing-3 and Fuqing-4 are expected in 2016 and 2017, respectively. In April 2015, the National Development and Reform Commission of China gave its final approval for the construction of units 5 and 6 and construction works started in May 2015 (concrete pouring) at Fuqing-5. Fuqing-5 and 6 are expected to be commissioned in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

The Fuqing nuclear power plant project is owned by China Nuclear Power Company (51%), Huadian Fuxin Energy Company (39%) and Fujian Investment and Development Group (10%).
