CIP launches 400 MW Anker green hydrogen facility in Germany

The Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has initiated a green hydrogen production facility in Sande, Germany. The Anker project will have an electrolysis of 400 MW and it is planned to be expanded to 800 MW at a later stage. The project is developed through CIP’s Energy Transition Fund (CI ETF I), and Friesen Elektra Green Energy, and it is strategically located near Wilhelmshaven, an important energy and industrial hub expected to become the future German hydrogen core network. Once completed, the Anker facility should produce 80 kt/year of green hydrogen produced from offshore and onshore wind, as well as solar energy through the grid, avoiding the emission of up to 2.4 MtCO2/year. It is expected to supply key German industries, including steel and chemicals, as well as the transport sector.

CIP’s Energy Transition Fund I (CI ETF I) is the largest dedicated greenfield green hydrogen fund worldwide. CI ETF I has built a market leading portfolio of Power-to-X projects, with around 6.5 GW of electrolyser capacity in its development portfolio globally.
