CIP awards FEED contract for 1 GW Haewoori offshore wind project (South Korea)

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to Aker Solutions and Principle Power for the floating foundations for the Haewoori 2 and 3 offshore wind parks, totalling 1 GW and located off the coast of Ulsan, in South Korea. Work on the FEED, which includes the design and delivery of the floating foundation structures required for the project, will start immediately and is due to be completed by November 2024.

The 1.5 GW Haewoori Offshore Wind project is being developed by CIP in collaboration with Copenhagen Offshore Partners. Each of the three Haewoori floating wind parks has a capacity of 500 MW.

At the end of 2022, offshore wind accounted for less than 1% of South Korea’s installed capacity (136 MW). South Korea has set a target to reach 12 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
