Chinese turbine supplier selected for an 845 MW wind project in Serbia

Fintel Energija, the Balkan subsidiary of the Italian company Fintel Energia Group, has selected the Chinese manufacturer Zhejiang Windey as preferred supplier for the 854 MW Maestrale Ring onshore wind project located near Subotica in northern Serbia. Under the agreement, Zhejiang Windey will supply and instal 112 WD200 7.7 MW wind turbines. The deal also includes a 10-year service and maintenance agreement for the wind park once the units are installed. The project was first approved by the city of Subotica in November 2020.

In January 2023, Fintel Energija also selected Zhejiang Windey as preferred supplier for the Košava 2, Kula 2, Kula 3, Kula 4 and Ram onshore wind projects in Serbia, totalling 110 MW. The agreement includes the supply of 28 wind turbines, as well as a 10-year service and maintenance agreement.

At the end of 2020, wind represented about 5% of Serbia’s installed capacity with 398 MW, and about 2.5% of its power generation with 976 GWh. The country currently has around 5 GW of wind capacity under development.
