China’s LONGi will supply 1 GW of solar PV for a 2.2 GW project in Indonesia

Vanda RE, a joint venture between Singapore’s Gurīn Energy and Gentari International Renewables, has signed a framework supply agreement with China’s LONGi Green Energy Technology for the supply of 1 GW of solar PV modules to be deployed in Vanda RE’s utility scale solar-and-storage project in the Riau Islands, Indonesia. The project will feature a total of 2.2 GW of solar installed capacity and 5 GWh of battery storage, and is part of a green economic corridor being developed between Indonesia and Singapore.

In September 2023, Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) already gave a conditional approval for five companies to import 2 GW of low-carbon electricity from Indonesia. In September 2024, the Singaporean Government announced plans to issue new conditional approvals to import 1.4 GW of low-carbon electricity from solar power plants in Indonesia to support its energy needs.
