China Three Gorges commissions 800 MW of offshore wind projects (China)

China Three Gorges has commissioned two offshore wind projects totalling 800 MW in China, namely the 400 MW Shapa II project in Yangjiang and the 400 MW Jiangsu Rudong H6 project in Jiangsu. In addition, the group has completed turbine installation at the 300 MW Dafeng offshore wind project located in the northern sea of Maozhusha.

Earlier in December 2021, State Power Investment Corp (SPIC) connected two offshore wind projects off south China's Guangdong province to the Chinese power grid, namely the 315 MW Jieyang Shenquan project and the 600 MW Zhanjiang Xuwen project. The company has more than 100 GW of renewable capacity, including 38 GW of solar power.

According to the Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA), China's installed renewable capacity reached 1,002 GW at the end of October 2021, i.e. 43.5% of the country's total installed capacity. The hydropower capacity stood at 385 GW, followed by wind (299 GW), solar (282 GW) and biomass (35 GW). In the first ten months of 2021, 29 GW of solar capacity was added, along with 17 GW of wind and 15 GW of hydropower. China's renewable power capacity has doubled since 2015 (502 GW), when it accounted for 32% of the total capacity, and ranks first in the world.
