China’s Yantai Port Group has put into operation its 400 kb/d crude oil pipeline expansion that connects the port of Yantai to the city of Weifang, as well as several independent refineries in the Shandong province, eastern China.
The 370 km new pipeline, with an annual capacity of 20 Mt, adds to an existing 650 km pipeline connecting Yantai to the city of Zibo, bringing the total transport capacity of the infrastructure to 40 Mt/year or 800 kb/d.
China had a refining capacity of 17 mb/d in 2021 and there are currently 67 refineries with a capacity of at least 100 kb/d in the country. A 400 kb/d refinery project, the Yantai Shandong oil hub, has been approved in late 2020.
