The Chinese National's Energy Administration (NEA) has unveiled its nuclear power plants construction plans for 2017. Five reactors are planned to be completed in 2017 and 8 more will enter the construction phase.

The following reactors will be completed in 2017: Sanmen 1 and Haiyang 1AP1000 units, the Taishan 1 EPR and the Fuqing 4 and Yangjiang 4 CPR-1000 units. These reactors are expected to bring around 6.41 GW of additional nuclear generation capacity.

Neither the name nor the type of the eight new reactors whose construction will start in 2017 have been published yet.

The Authority also announced the preparatory works which will be carried out on eight other units: Sanmen units 3 and 4, Ningde units 5 and 6 and two units at the Zhangzhou plants (Fujian province) and Huizhou (Guangdong province). These projects are expected to add 9.86 GW of nuclear generation capacity.
