Chile unveils plan to boost the development of green hydrogen by 2030

The Chilean Ministry of Energy has unveiled the Green Hydrogen Action Plan 2023-2030 that includes more than 80 actions to allow the deployment of the green hydrogen industry and its derivatives in Chile. The measures are planned to be implemented in two stages, with the first one (2023-2026) set to establish all relevant regulations to allow the development of the industry, while the second stage (2026-2030) is expected to focus on the implementation of all necessary instruments (territorial planning, regulation, local development, citizen participation and preparation of human capital) for the realization of the development of green hydrogen.

Around 60 green hydrogen projects have been publicly announced in Chile, some for the export market, some for domestic suppliers and some for both. Most are in Magallanes and in the north of the country.
