Chevron and Microsoft sign PPA for 2.7 GW gas-fired power plant in Texas (US)

Chevron Corporation has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Energy Forge One has signed an agreement with Microsoft to develop a 2,670 MW co-located power facility in West Texas (United States), known as Project Kilby, that will provide electricity to a Microsoft-operated data center under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Final Investment Decision (FID) is expected by the end of 2026, with first power delivery is anticipated in 2028.

Kilby is expected to be built through a phased, modular approach that enables incremental expansion over time. Most of the capacity will come from GE Vernova turbines and associated electrical infrastructure, with additional capacity will be provided by Solar Turbines (part of the Caterpillar Group).
