Cheniere receives FERC's approval for Sabine Pass 4th liquefaction train (US)

The US LNG export company Cheniere has received an approval from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to commission the 4.5 Mt/year Sabine Pass fourth liquefaction train at the Sabine Pass LNG export terminal (Cameron Parish, Louisiana, US). Cheniere submitted the request back in September 2017. In July 2017, the fourth train achieved its first LNG production. It produced its first commissioning cargo in August 2017 and is now set to begin commercial operations.

The 18 Mt/year Sabine Pass project is scheduled to include six liquefaction trains, of which the first three are currently operational. Sabine Pass trains 1 and 2 came onstream in 2016 and the third train started operation in March 2017. The fifth train is under construction and slated for 2019 start up while Cheniere received all regulatory approvals to construct and operate the sixth train and the final investment decision will be made when commercial contracts and financing are in place to support construction.
