Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass-5 LNG has been fully commissioned (US)

The fifth train of the Sabine Pass II liquefaction and export terminal project (referred to as Sabine Pass II-5) in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States) has reached substantial completion and is now fully commissioned. The 27 Mt/year Sabine Pass project will accommodate up to six LNG trains capable of processing over 4.5 Mt/year of LNG.

Cheniere Energy expects to reach the final investment decision (FID) for the construction of the sixth train in 2019. For this purpose, an LNG sales a purchase agreement (SPA) of 1.1 Mt/year has been signed with the Malaysian state-held oil and gas company Petronas in December 2018. The fuel will be shipped from the sixth train on a free on board (FOB) basis for a 20-year term following the date of first commercial delivery.

Cheniere Energy is moving forward quickly with its LNG export projects and commissioned the first train of the US$15bn Corpus Christi greenfield LNG export project earlier in March 2019. The first phase of Corpus Christi LNG includes three 4.5 Mt/year liquefaction trains, with the second train expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2019. The third train is also under construction and is expected to be commissioned in 2021. The second phase of the project will include 7 smaller LNG trains of 1.4 Mt/year each (total capacity of 9.5 Mt/year) that could be brought online in 2022.
