Cheniere Energy starts exports at Corpus Christi LNG first terminal (US)

According to US-based project company Cheniere Energy, the first commissioning cargo of LNG has loaded and departed from its US$15bn Corpus Christi liquefaction and export terminal project in Texas (United States). This marks the first export of LNG from the state and as well from a greenfield export project in the Lower 48 states.

The first 4.5 Mt/year train of the Corpus Christi project started to produce LNG in November 2018 and will reach substantial completion in the first quarter of 2019. It is the first step of the first phase, which includes three 4.5 Mt/year liquefaction trains. The second and third trains are under construction and are slated to be commissioned in the second half of 2019 and in the second half of 2021, respectively. The second phase of the project will include 7 smaller LNG trains of 1.4 Mt/year each (total capacity of 9.5 Mt/year), which will be brought online in 2022.
