The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has authorised Cheniere Energy to introduce fuel gas to test the first 4.5 Mt/year liquefaction train of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction project in Texas (United States). Cheniere Energy could then start liquefying gas in early September 2018 and could export its first test cargo in late December 2018 or in early January 2019. The first train was initially expected to be commissioned in March 2019.
The second train of Cheniere’s Corpus Christi Liquefaction project, also rated 4.5 Mt/year - is under construction and is expected to be commissioned in 2021. The project will also include three LNG storage tanks, two marine berths, and associated facilities. Cheniere Energy is also developing a second phase, consisting of 7 smaller LNG trains of 1.4 Mt/year each (total capacity of 9.5 Mt/year) that could be commissioned as of 2022.
